Job boards are important for employer as well as job seekers as on one hand it makes various announcements related to the available job posts and its nature and on other hand it helps the job seekers to fill and submit their supplication for a particular job post.

The industry of job board started working during the years 1990 to 1994 when listings of the jobs were done on various sites like Usenet, Mosiac, Monster and Net Start. Then from 1995 to 1997 various new changes took place like 6 newspaper put their listings online, craigslist was launched and Stepstone was launched.

The big time for the job boards was from 1999 to 1999 where Monster runs its first superbowl ad, Jobsonline was the number 1 job site and the Careerbuilder acquired the careerpath and headhunter.net. The phase of recovery and growth was from the year 2000 to 2002 while the industry matured from 2003 to 2007. The recession took place from 2008 to 2010 while the years from 2009 to 2012 were considered to be modern era.

There are various categories in job boards and the most popular niches include work at home jobs, marketing jobs, medical jobs, sales jobs, accounting jobs, airport jobs, art jobs, bank jobs, warehouse jobs and college jobs.
