Important Shift Work Statistics and Trends for 2021

Shift work escalated quickly during the COVID-19 pandemic. For health and security reasons, many companies introduced this way of working to protect their employees as much as possible. That meant an intensely new lifestyle and a new way of managing their working week.

For them, shift work was something new, but for many others who work in this form for a long time, shift work wasn’t a surprise. As you know, the hospitality industry had large-scale problems caused by the pandemic, and neither the retail businesses weren’t spare the consequences. The Deputy team has run a survey among 1,416 shift workers in those niches, and in the healthcare sector too.

The results are here. The worrying thing is that 69% of them said they are concerned about their job security. Along with that, the main requirements they have are the raise or accurate pay, flexibility, schedule transparency, recognition, support, and effective communication.
