Gender Bias in Job Ads: How Job Ads Reinforce the Gender Pay Gap

Gender bias in the world of work has been a prominent discussion which is ever-increasing with the rise of international feminism and gender equality campaigns and movements. A new study by Adzuna.co.uk compared over 1.2 million job ads since 2014 to determine whether there is a gender bias within job ads in the UK. Results revealed that 60% of all UK industries have shown a significant bias towards male applicants, with 17% more masculine associated language being used than feminine. Additionally, the industries that displayed the most male biased wording in their job ads were Consultancy, Sales and Property, to name a few.
