Incontinence in Middle Age Women – A Scorecard

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

In 2020 Aeroflow Urology surveyed over 1,000 women in America between the ages of 40 and 65 regarding bladder health issues and incontinence.

The results were shocking: 72% of the women polled reported having experienced incontinence.

65% of these women experienced these issues monthly, while 25% experienced bladder leakage daily!

Worst of all, 56% of the respondents did not seek help from a doctor or healthcare professional about their symptoms.

Though it started as a simple assessment of health, these results pointed to an overwhelming stigma around discussing incontinence. Most people don’t feel comfortable discussing things like bladder control or leakage. You’re probably feeling uncomfortable just reading this.

This stigma is having a real impact on womens’ ability to seek treatment, resources, and support.

The danger in keeping silent is that untreated incontinence can point to larger health issues, and can lead to UTIs and even kidney failure. Not to mention the psychological and social impacts for the women who live with these symptoms.

We decided to turn the survey results into a scorecard on women’s urological health in America, to help start a conversation and normalize the topic of incontinence. You can continue the conversation by sharing your story with the hashtag #incontinenceawareness
