LVT Vs Engineered Wood Flooring

LVT flooring and engineered wood look and feel like real solid wood flooring (LVT also comes in stone effect). However, only engineered wood is made with a top veneer of real wood. Usually, this veneer is oak, however, walnut, ash, maple and cherry are also available.

Both Engineered wood and luxury vinyl tiles are compatible with installing over underfloor heating. LVT, when used with waterproof adhesive, is completely water-resistant so it is a better choice for bathrooms and en-suites and other rooms that are high in moisture.

Engineered wood is a lot more expensive than LVT. However, installing LVT yourself can be a lot more difficult than installing engineered wood yourself. It can cost a lot more to find an LVT floor fitter.

Engineered floors are a lot more environmentally friendly than LVT due to the plastics used in making LVT.

Both options look like the real thing and come in a vast array of different styles. Choosing one over the other comes down to your budget, your durability needs, and your comfort level with the toxins that can be released from LVT.

This Infographic highlights the main features of both of these types of floors to help you make the best choice of investment.
