Workplace
substance-abusing activities are not common. Over the years employers have to
face serious issues in terms of billions of dollars annually on the name of
rehabilitation or medical insurance purposes of the employees. The study
published recently describes that there are confounding results about the
trending of illegal use of drugs by the employees at the workplace. Employees
are reportedly using alcohol, marijuana, and many other illegal drugs at
business premises. The use of drugs at the workplace causes serious troubles
for business firms and owners such as tardiness, absenteeism, and decreases
productivity, high rate of errors in work and brutal accidents. It is also
dangerous because it may cause irrational behavior of employees, fights, and
arguments with co-workers and makes employers pay for millions of dollars for
medical insurance and they have to pay to prevent litigations action by the
employees.

In U.S employers have to pay 100 billion dollars annually for medical incentives to the employees especially addicted to illicit drugs.
