The 2024 Olympics are set to take place in Paris, running from July 26 to August 11. This edition of the games introduces four new sports.

The upcoming Olympics bring forth numerous innovations. Notably, there will be a gender-balanced participation, with equal representation of male and female athletes. The opening ceremony is planned to unfold on the iconic Seine river, while the honor of closing the games will be given to female athletes. Additionally, the inclusion of several fresh sports adds to the excitement. Detailed information and an infographic regarding these new sports can be found below.

Paris 2024 welcomes four sports that are not traditionally part of the Olympic lineup: breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding, and surfing. It’s worth noting that the latter three were also included in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Breaking: This sport is characterized by a fusion of athletic maneuvers, encompassing spins, flips, and intricate body movements.

Sport Climbing: Emerging from the roots of traditional rock climbing, sport climbing encompasses three distinct disciplines: boulder, lead, and speed. Each discipline involves utilizing permanent anchors affixed to an artificial wall for climbing.

Skateboarding: A dynamic sport involving riding and executing tricks on a flat wooden skateboard, which comprises a deck, trucks, and wheels.

Surfing: This water sport entails athletes performing maneuvers atop waves while balanced on a board.
